In 2016, the Colorado General Assembly passed a bill establishing the third Saturday in May as "Colorado Public Lands Day".  The new holiday falls on May 20th this year and celebrates the significant contributions that national, state, and local public lands within Colorado make to wildlife, outdoor recreation, the economy, and to Coloradans’ quality of life.
