The "tailwater," also known as the upper Yampa, is one of the most productive stretches of river year-round. The dam keeps the flows and water temperature nearly consistent for the entire year. The DOW keeps a close eye on the water and river bank health which makes for incredible fishing.
APRIL 9TH, 2018
The Tailwater water is fishing great right now. The road is now open as of April 1st! We have seen fish rising to Blue Wings and Midges on snowy overcast days. Make sure you are fishing 6x fluorocarbon tippet, micro split shot and small indicators as this section is low, clear and spooky this time of year.
