From Interstate 25 in New Mexico, exit 452 in Raton and go 7 miles northeast on Highways 72 and 526, following the signs to Sugarite State Park. Drive through Sugarite park to the Lake Dorothey SWA parking area. Follow the hiking trail 1/2 mile north to the lake.
