Ridway- First Day Hike: Oak Leaf Trail
Wednesday, January 01: 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
Meander through scrub oak and rocky cliff sides. Enjoy the views amongst tall Ponderosa Pines and walk along the spectacular Uncompahgre River. This hike is sure to give you a feeling of serenity and peace. Many birds can be heard and deer may be seen. If your eyes are real sharp, spotting a large brown trout may even be possible.
* Hot chocolate and tea will be served at the Visitor Center all day. A campfire with s'mores will be lit around noon. *
Meet at: Pa-Co-Chu-Puk Entrance, fisherman's parking lot at the bridge
Difficulty: Easy - Moderate
Minimum Age: All First Day Hikes are family oriented; however, this hike includes a few large steps and some minor inclines that may be difficult for children.
Restrictions: Pets are welcome but must be leashed and cleaned up after.
Length: 1 mile
What to bring: Bring snacks and water, be prepared for the weather (recommended you dress in layers) and all trail conditions (ice, snow pack, bare, etc.).
