Introduction to Ice Fishing

Have you ever wanted to try ice fishing but did not know where to start? Are you new to ice fishing and looking for some tips to help you catch more fish? Then, this is the class for you! Space is limited so register today.All fishing equipment will be provided or bring your gear and we will help you get it set up. All anglers 16 years old and older must have a valid fishing license and all vehicles will need a valid park pass. Licenses cannot be sold at the lake, but can be purchased at the nearby Park Office.
The location is Staunton State Park. We will meet at a side gate 3/10 of a mile past the main entrance. I will be standing there to let you through the gate. You will NOT go through the main entrance. The class will start at 9:00 but arriving by 8:30 am will give you time to get jackets and gear ready by 9:00 . Please be on time and ready to go to respect the other participants time. Besides a valid fishing license, here are some additional items you may want to bring with you:
Yaktrax or something similar as the ice is VERY SLIPPERY and easy to fall on.
Plenty of warm clothes - dress as if you are going skiing, sledding or out to play in the snow.
Camp chair, water, snacks/lunch, hot chocolate etc.
