Saturday, September 24: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

The purpose for this Dutch oven and Chili cook-off is to have fun, to enjoy good food, to share our enthusiasm for chili and Dutch oven cooking, to get outdoors, and the use of state’s natural resources. Participants start cooking at 8am and judging starts 12:30pm with side dish. All judging should be done by 4pm with all categories. Everyone can taste the dishes after all judging is completed.

There are a total of eight categories: Main dish, Side dish, Desserts, Breads, Wild game/fish, Youth Chefs (under 16), Chili and Cowboy Coffee.  The Cowboy Coffee is voted on by the people that come by to taste and cast their vote.  On the food dishes, judging begins at 12:30pm with the Side dish (every 30 minutes is a new dish).  Judging will be completed by 4pm. Everyone is welcome to come and out and taste all food dishes after judging is complete.  If interested in participating, please contact us our park office at (970) 645-2551 ext 102 or by email at darby.shanks@state.co.us
