Moosemas Christmas Tree Cut and Open House at State Forest State Park
Saturday, December 07: All day event
Still don't have your Christmas tree? Come to State Forest State Park's Merry Moosemas Open House December 7th to cut your own fresh one!
We have lodgepole pine and spruce on park, so stop by the Moose Visitor Center for your permit, $5 per tree - cash or check only, plus your $8 daily vehicle pass or an annual pass.
We have complimentary apple cider and hot cocoa, plus we'll have tree ornament crafting projects for all ages. Decorate your new tree (or one you already have) with a handmade "tree cookie" moose.
We will offer 20% off of all items in our Visitor Center from the day after Thanksgiving through Christmas.
Make sure you bring all you need for cutting an hauling your tree, including a handsaw or chainsaw, rope or straps, tarp, a vehicle to load it on and anything else you might need.
Did you know that where pine regrowth is too thick (called "dog hair" regrowth) trees compete for limited resources and can remain small instead of growing?
Cutting small to medium trees in thickets can reduce pressure and open up the canopy, encouraging trees to grow to their full height.
Help us manage our forest, and get a Christmas tree out of it, plus all funds from cutting permits will go back into forestry projects.
