Girl Scouts Love State Parks

About this Event

Volunteer naturalists will teach the basics of the Seven Leave No Trace principles including the effects of trash on wildlife, performing autopsies (necropsies) on stuffed toy birds and animals to show how trash can harm wildlife, talk about how much bears must eat before hibernating, how to safely and responsibly view wildlife, and play games that teach how long it takes litter and trash to decompose. Roxborough also has a “trash” garden that demonstrates the effects of the sun and weather on trash and litter. Our volunteer naturalists will also be available to share their knowledge of the natural features of the park, the animals that live there, as well as maps and hiking advice. Self-guided tour guides (booklets) are available in the Visitor Center. Visit the Girl Scouts table for a free national Girl Scouts Love State Parks patch and other giveaways while supplies last!
