Tournament - Spinney Mountain Reservoir Pike Management

Tournament Rules

• Only Northern Pike will be accepted in the tournament.

  They must be caught from Spinney Mountain Reservoir and harvested, and photos must be submitted on the Fishing Chaos app or website.

• Scoring of Northern Pike will be as follows:

  • Fish 32 inches and under are worth 3 points
  • Fish greater than 32 inches are worth 1 point. 

  This point system will be used for the Most Points prize category.

Submitting Fish

• Each fish must be measured immediately upon capture using a provided official soft tape, which can be obtained from the ANS station upon entry.

  In order for your fish to qualify, two photos, as described below, must be submitted to enter the fish into the tournament.

• First photo:

  The official soft tape must be laid on top of the fish with the 0-inch mark on the end of the nose and the other end over the tail. The fish must be laid with its right side down and the photo must be captured from directly above it and encompass the whole fish. Mouths may be open or closed, and anglers may pinch the tails.

• Second photo:

  Still with the fish’s right side down, this photo must show evidence of harvest either through a clearly visible cut in the abdomen or a cut to the gills/head. The entirety of the fish must still be visible in the photo.

• Photos of fish harvested must occur prior to leaving the park property through the Fishing Chaos app.

• Photos that do not meet these requirements will not be accepted or scored. No exception.

  Length determination will be at the discretion of the event director.

• Submitted fish must go to the angler’s Fishing Chaos account who caught the fish.

  This is an individual tournament, so you cannot enter as a partnership or team or combine catches with other anglers.

• Harvested fish must be kept by the angler or donated to the freezer available at the Spinney ANS station and must be cared for and provided for human consumption.

• Fish will be entered into the monthly prize categories based on date caught. New prize categories will begin the first of each month and end on the last day of the month.

  Ties will be broken based on the first person to reach a given prize category.

• Tiger Muskie are NOT part of the tournament and will not be counted if submitted.

• CPW employees are not eligible for cash prizes.

• The event director has the right to change the rules at any time.

  Interpretation and enforcement of the rules shall be left to the discretion of the event director. Each participant agrees to report to the event director immediately any violation or infraction of the rules.

Spinney Mountain Reservoir Fishing Regulations

• Fishing is strictly flies and lures only; no salt and no scent.

• Bait fishing and snagging are both prohibited.

• Areas closed to fishing include the face of the dam, the Homestake Conveyance Channel past the no fishing signs, and from any island or boat ramp.

• Fishing from the docks is prohibited.

• No fishing from one-half hour after sunset to one-half hour before sunrise.

• Park hours are one-half hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset.

• Bag, possession and minimum size for trout is 1, 20 inches long.

• Bag and possession limit for Tiger Muskie is 1, at least 36 inches long.
