Colorado Parks and Wildlife begins construction on swim beach parking lot improvements at Harvey Gap State Park

RIFLE, Colo. — Colorado Parks and Wildlife has started construction on improvements to the swim beach parking lot at Harvey Gap State Park.
The improvements will increase parking capacity, allowing more visitors and improving accessibility. A new one-way traffic pattern will also be introduced to help reduce congestion and minimize the risk of accidents in the area.
Additional upgrades include modern restroom facilities and renovations to picnic areas.
“These upgrades are part of our ongoing commitment to enhance the visitor experience and ensure safety at Harvey Gap State Park,” said Park Manager Brian Palcer. “We appreciate the support, understanding, and cooperation of our visitors during this construction period.”
Construction is anticipated to be completed in June.
During construction, no vehicle or foot traffic is allowed in the construction area to ensure the safety of all visitors and workers.
The boat ramp parking lot will remain open to vehicles with trailers for motorized watercraft.
Visitors are reminded that parking is not permitted along Harvey Gap Road (County Road 237).
Due to the reduction in parking availability, visitors are encouraged to consider alternative locations, such as Rifle Gap or other nearby bodies of water, while construction is underway.
