The Mosca Campground is located in the low dunes west of San Luis Lake. View San Luis State Wildlife Area Map for location. The 51 campsites feature a panoramic view of the lake, the surrounding mountains and the Great Sand Dunes. All sites have electrical hookups, sheltered tables, and fire grills. A dump station is also available on site.

Campsites can accommodate motor homes and trailers, and some sites will hold tents. The best campsites for tents are 2, 4, 7, 25, 27, 33, 37, 38, 39, 42, and 51.

Anyone ages 18-64 must purchase an annual access permit to enter the property. Anyone who has a valid Colorado annual hunting or fishing license does NOT need to have an access permit. Permits are $36, valid April 1-March 31, and available anywhere you can purchase CPW hunting and fishing licenses. Camping is allowed in designated campsites only.

Fires are allowed in fire grills only. NO wood gathering or tree cutting is allowed in the wildlife area.

The wetland environment of the park draws an abundance of wildlife, but also provides a breeding ground for biting insects. Visitors should wear bug spray during the warmer months.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife reminds visitors to check current hunting, fishing and land use regulations when planning to visit a State Wildlife Area. State Wildlife Area visitors can also find rules and regulations information in Chapter 9 Regulations.
