First Day Hikes at Cheyenne Mountain

Saturday, January 01: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Sleet, snow or 20 below, come and enjoy the first day of 2022 with friends and fresh air!

There are a few options for First Day Hikes.  All hikes start at 10am at the Limekiln Trailhead.

Option 1:   Choose from the three different hikes ranging from 1, 3, and 5 miles. Hikes are led by park volunteers and open to all who show up.  NO reservations are required.

Option 2:  A guided Adventure Hike with volunteer naturalist, Ranger Rick, for an out-and-back hike on Talon Trail. The hike will ascend 539 feet over 2.5 miles, completing a five mile round trip. We will discuss features of the three ecosystems that we will traverse during the hike.  This hike is limited to 20 people and reservations are required.  Call the VIsitor Center to claim your spot:  719-576-2016.

Dress warmly and appropriately for the weather.  Bring water as well.   After you finish, stop by the Visitor Center for some hot chocolate and cookies compliments of the Friends of CMSP.

The hikes are free, but a park pass is required for every vehicle that enters the park. ($9 per vehicle/per day)
