U.S. Coast Guard-approved safety equipment is required on all recreational boats. Some equipment requirements are listed below. In addition to the equipment below, other requirements, such as muffling devices and flags for water-skiing are outlined in the Boating Statutes & Regulations. Boat patrols conduct routine safety inspections while patrolling waters, and courtesy inspections are conducted at boat docks. Vessel operators may also request courtesy inspections.
