The warm water makes the reservoir ideal for boating, water-skiing, and jet skiing. Regular winds also provide excellent conditions for sail boating. Scuba diving is allowed throughout the lake. The mild climate makes boating possible year round. Boaters must observe the Colorado Boating statues and regulations, and display a current registration on each boat. Aquatic Nuisance inspections are required on all vessels launched at Lake Pueblo. An updated regulation booklet is available at every park office. One full-service marina on the south shore offers slip rentals, gas pumps, minor boat repair, marina stores and snacks. See the North Shore Marina page for important information surrounding it.
The Arkansas River east of the dam provides summer fun for floating, kayaking and canoes. Life jackets are required for all river activities.
No boats are allowed on the Valco ponds but belly boats can be used. Check out our fishing page for information on the multiple fishing opportunities.
Lake Pueblo is a multi-use park, so waterfowl hunting is allowed.
Rock Canyon Swimbeach is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Admission to the swimbeach is free, but a valid parks pass is required on every vehicle entering the park.
It's important to remember that there are debris and shallow areas throughout the lake that create hazards for boaters. Even though the park makes every attempt to mark hazard areas, not all hazards are discovered or marked. Boaters must exercise caution and practice good boating skills at all times.
