40 in the Fort

Annually, Lory State Park hosts the "40 in the Fort" Endurance Mountain Bike Race. Thousands of feet of lung-busting, leg-searing climbs and grin inducing descents make this race a great test of your physical endurance, mental toughness and mountain bike skills. The individual race is 40 miles made up of two 20 mile laps. Each lap has nearly 4,500 feet of climbing. Race divisions include Open, Sport and Singlespeed with men's and women's under and over 40 year old groups.

Arthur's Rock Trail

This 1.7-mile hiking trail winds through forested mountainsides and open meadows to the summit of Arthur's Rock. Upon reaching the summit of Arthur's Rock, hikers are rewarded with a breathtaking view of Horsetooth Reservoir and the Front Range from an elevation of 6,780 feet. ​​Well Gulch Nature Trail


​​​Well Gulch Nature trail is an easy to moderate mile and a half trail that gains approximately 400 feet in elevation as it winds through gentle slopes, crosses season streams and reveals great views of the valley below, Horsetooth Reservoir and Fort Collins beyond. The site of Lory's 2014 Butterfly Monitoring Program, Well Gulch is also the perfect spot to see one of Lory's 100 species of butterflies. For mor​e information, visit the trails page.​
