With our plentiful water resources and wetland habitat, reptiles and amphibians
have many places to thrive within the park. St. Vrain is home to ten reptile
and three amphibian species.
As you
take part in activities near the ponds, you may see a Painted Turtle basking on
a log, or a Northern Water snake slithering through the water. These versatile
creatures provide not only an important source of food for birds and mammals,
but also add color and excitement to the landscape of St. Vrain State Park.
Take a look at our Reptiles & Amphibians of St. Vrain Brochure to learn about
the park’s herpetofauna.
