COUNCILS AND COMMITTEES

About the Council

The Habitat Partnership Program State Council was established in 1990 to oversee local habitat partnership committees. These committees help carry out program goals at a local level with local representation. Since its inception, the Habitat Partnership Program has experienced exponential growth and the Council now provides guidance to 19 HPP Committees across the state. The Council is responsible for larger projects, including those that are statewide or extend beyond committee boundaries. Additionally, the Council is involved in upholding the integrity of the program through developing new guidelines and allocating budgets. Meetings are usually held quarterly in alternating regions.

Get Involved: Sportsperson Representative

Colorado Parks and Wildlife is seeking applicants to serve on the Habitat Partnership Program State Council as a representative of sportspersons. The Council is the oversight body for the Habitat Partnership Program (HPP), which works through 19 local committees to resolve conflicts between agricultural operators and big game ungulates, assist with conservation efforts on private land, enhance wildlife migratory corridors, and assist CPW in achieving management objectives for deer, elk, pronghorn, and moose. The Council meets twice to four times yearly in various locations to discuss HPP issues and opportunities.

To qualify, applicants must be residents of Colorado and purchase big game licenses on a regular basis. The sportsperson appointee will represent the interests of sportspersons on the Council.

Anyone interested in the vacancy should submit a letter of interest, including their credentials, to Michael Blanck, HPP Manager, at [email protected].

Local HPP committees are also invited to nominate qualified candidates for consideration.

The deadline for nominations to be received is March 28, 2025.
