Over-the-Counter (OTC) Licenses
OTC licenses are not restricted in quantity but are restricted to certain units, seasons, and manners of take. Although they are considered "unlimited licenses," they are still subject to purchase limits for each individual. They are available without having to participate in the draw(s).

Purchase an OTC License
Bear
All archery, muzzleloader and rifle bear licenses that are sold over the counter are unlimited in number. There are no longer licenses with caps. You can purchase an add-on over-the-counter archery, muzzleloader or rifle bear license ONLY if you have a deer or elk license for the same method of take. For more information, please view page 66 of the Big Game Brochure.
Elk
OTC either sex, antlerless, or antlered elk licenses are for rifle only. Hunters can purchase an over the counter archery or muzzleloader bear license if they have an elk license for the same method of take and at least one hunting unit overlaps.
Pronghorn
OTC either sex pronghorn licenses are for archery only.
White-tailed Deer
OTC white-tailed deer for any legal method of take. Hunters can purchase an over the counter archery or muzzleloader bear license if they have a deer license for the same method of take and at least one hunting unit overlaps.

Government Issued Identification
You’ll need to have government issued identification to purchase a hunting license.

Colorado law requires that individuals born on or after January 1, 1949, must complete an approved hunter education course before applying for or purchasing a Colorado hunting license. To hunt mountain lion, hunters must also complete the mountain lion identification course.

Youth Hunters
Youth hunters can purchase over-the-counter licenses and have opportunities to hunt extended seasons if they do not fill their tag. Hunters must be 12-17 years of age to purchase an over-the-counter license.
