Update Schedule
Administrative Boundary GIS Data
- First Week in February – to match any changes in Sheep, Goat, or Big Game GMU boundaries published in the Big Game Brochure.
- First Week in March – to update changes in administrative boundaries Regions, Areas, and Districts.
- First Week in August – to update Public Access Properties at the beginning of Big Game hunting seasons.
- First Week in September – to update Walk In Access program property boundaries.
- First Week in November – to update Walk In Access program property boundaries (late season).
Wildlife Species GIS Data
- Middle of December – at the completion of regional species activity mapping updates

Data are available as individual ESRI Shapefiles in a WinZip file download or as a single group download in the ESRI Layer Package format. We make lots of downable digital maps.
TIP: By default, Adobe Reader has a preference set to 'Enhance thin lines'. This may cause contour lines on our maps to look extra thick while viewing them on your computer. To solve this issue, turn that preference off by unchecking the box next to the option in Adobe Reader to 'Enhance thin lines'.
Map Library
Find every map on the Colorado Parks and Wildlife website using the Map Library! Search over 900 map files by name, county, map type, file type or year. Locate GeoPDF maps that can be used on your smartphone.
CPW Mobile PDF
The Colorado Parks and Wildlife Mobile PDF map reader app pinpoints your location on a map without the need for an internet or cell tower connection. Get PDF maps from CPW online Map Library or personalize maps using the Colorado Hunting Atlas or the Colorado Fishing Atlas. GeoPDF maps are also available from the USFS or the USGS.

Hunting Atlas
The Colorado Hunting Atlas allows users to view big game concentrations and game management units on top of street maps, USGS topographic maps or high resolution color aerial photography. Map layers include CPW properties and office locations, public federal land, campgrounds and where to purchase your hunting license.
Fishing Atlas
The Colorado Fishing Atlas, the latest interactive mapping tool offered by Colorado Parks and Wildlife, allows users to search for fishing opportunities by species, specific interest or proximity to your home or destination. Information includes accessible fishing access, stocked waters, boat ramps, special fishing regulations, stream gages (including links to real-time data) and more.
Colorado Trail Explorer (COTREX)
View trails by allowed uses on the map, browse featured routes, download offline maps, record trips and notes in the field, complete challenges to earn badges, and share your experiences with the community. COTREX is your gateway into Colorado’s magnificent outdoors.
