Through this program, students can learn the value and function of rivers, how to collect and use quality chemical, biological and physical data, and be stewards of their rivers, and contribute to making a difference.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife Teacher Institutes are interagency, site-based, outdoor education programs designed to help teachers explore local resources with their students; all course content is standards-based and hands-on.
The State Board of Education adopted a statewide plan for environmental education in partnership with the Colorado Department of Natural Resources. The plan is designed to foster the partnerships and awareness needed to promote, coordinate, and sustain standards-based environmental education across the state.
The Colorado Environmental Education Plan focuses on developing environmental education infrastructure to provide students with time outdoors, teachers with environmental education, and schools with resources that engage students in mastering the Colorado Academic Standards. The Colorado Environmental Leadership Council is a statewide, collaborative body that supports the plan and overall environmental education efforts.
