All applicants with hunting experience will be considered for program participation; however, priority will be given to novice participants that meet eligibility requirements. If you have participated in a Colorado Parks and Wildlife Hunter Outreach Program for a specific species.
An adult who meets the following requirements can apply for a mentored hunt:
Participants may be required to complete classroom instruction/range qualification prior to going on a hunt opportunity. Range qualification sessions will typically occur on a weekend in the greater Denver Area. Participants may use a program firearm, however bringing your own or borrowing from family members is highly encouraged.
The program is designed to provide basic education in turkey hunting. Turkey biology, habitat and tactics are taught in the field during the spring turkey hunting season. This hunt application is open February 12 to 28.
This mentored hunt application is open June 1 to 30 annually. Mentored hunts for big and small game species will typically occur between September and February. There may be limited fall turkey hunting opportunities from year to year.
