Lunar Eclipse Hikes - 3 Mile at Cheyenne Mountain State Park
Event Info
About this Event
Advance registration and a State Park Pass is required.
Come join us for an adventurous Full Moon night hike! This month during our hike the Moon will be passing through Earth's shadow (a lunar eclipse). There will be a partial eclipse of the Moon at 8:12-9:16 PM, Saturn will be rising at Sunset and we are a few days from Fall Equinox.
We will be exploring the Cheyenne Mountain State Park trails, where we will use our five senses to help us navigate at night. We will learn fun facts about how our eyes adjust to darkness, how nocturnal animals survive, night sky sights and observe the lunar eclipse!
The hikes conclude around 9:00 PM in the Lime Kiln Trailhead Parking Lot for 30 minutes of viewing celestial sights through telescopes.
Audience: 8 years old and up
Location: Meet at the Limekiln Parking Lot, near the trailhead/restrooms
Additional Information: Free event! Park pass required
