About this Event

We'll be talking about different rock types, how they form, and how to identify them. There will be hands-on activities with rock samples. If weather permits, we'll also take a walk along Coyote Run to investigate rocks in their natural habitat!

On the trail we will speak about how mountains are formed, and the geologic history of Cheyenne Mountain itself.

This program will begin in the Visitor Center at 11:30AM. Please dress for the weather and be prepared to walk up to a mile and a half.

Recommended for participants 14+

This program is free. Advanced registration required. All vehicles, including those parked at the Visitor Center for an extended period of time, are required to have a valid park pass.
