Join volunteer naturalists Candice and Tim for a birding hike in the park.  This walk is to introduce park visitors and all birders at all levels to the park's birds and all other natural wonders you might encounter. Registration is encouraged , but if you want to join us last minute please feel free to do so.

Join us for a fun day of fishing, help reduce invasive species and win cash prices. Carp Fishing Tournament Bow and Rod at Barr Lake.&nbsp;Fishing from&nbsp;the Shoreline or&nbsp;Boat. Cash Prices.&nbsp;&nbsp; "<strong>Registration Required - Limited Number of Registrations."</strong> <strong>"35 boat limit registrations and 40 fishing from shore limit registrations</strong>."&nbsp; Only carp are weighted and counted. Must have a Colorado fishing license. Prizes: Boat with most carp - $1,000. Most carp caught from shore - $500. Largest overall carp - $250. Youth largest carp - $250. Smallest overall carp - $100. All carp will be composted.<strong>Register on-line</strong> and pay entry fee at the check-in table by the boat ramp. Entry fee required at the check-in table by the boat ramp. $10.00 Adult Entry Fee, and $5.00 Youth Entry Fee.

Explore Barr Lake at dusk! Envision yourself taking a short brisk evening walk with a Park Naturalist. Moon walk programs are designed for adults and families with children age 6 and up. We will meet in front of the Nature Center and will hike up to 3 miles.

Upper Arkansas OUT, formerly known as TEN: Watershed Wonders – The Blue Lines that Tie Us Together!

Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area

Join Upper Arkansas O.U.T. (Outdoor Understanding for Teachers), formerly known as T.E.N., for 3 ½ days exploring the Upper Arkansas watershed. The class will focus on the importance of watersheds to nature and the people in Colorado. Topics will include water &amp; natural resources management, aquatic wildlife such as beavers and fish, soil connections, and permaculture. We will also connect nature and water to art and mindfulness. Participants will visit local sites in the Upper Arkansas Valley and be exposed to a variety of hands-on activities that apply to science, social studies, math, history, art, and language arts. The goal of O.U.T. (Outdoor Understanding for Teachers) is to help teachers promote student understanding and appreciation of science and the natural environment through local, field-oriented education opportunities in the schools and in-school curriculum.&nbsp; This event is taking place at various locations including Twin Lakes, Trout Creek Pass,&nbsp; Hutchinson Ranch, and Coaldale.
