SUN-Day in the Park

Cheyenne Mountain State Park

Join us for SUN-Day on a Saturday! The Colorado Springs Astronomical Society (CSASTRO) will set up special solar observing telescopes at the Limekiln Trailhead, providing a way to safely view the Sun's atmosphere. The Sun is at solar maximum and so, with the specially designed solar observing telescopes, we’re looking forward to seeing some amazing views of our dynamic star. This program is free. No advanced registration is required. All vehicles that enter the park are required to have a valid park pass.

Caring for the first two miles off of the interstate, the Friends of Highline Lake ensures that visitors to the Loma area are greeted with a clean commute and view of the Grand Valley. Ride the Reimagined Paths at Mack Mesa

Are you ready to shred the trails? We are! Grab your bike and come mountain bike with us to explore the new trail section of the Highline Lake Trail. The group ride will start at Mack Mesa Lake near the restrooms. We will then make a loop around Mack Mesa Lake, exploring nearly 2.5 miles. On our ride, we'll explore the highest point in the park while riding the newest section of the Highline Lake Trail.&nbsp;

From lodges to river-stopping dams, they build it all. Come learn about beavers and their construction marvels. You, too, can try your hand at building a dam. Meet in the Visitor Center, all ages welcome. This program is free but a valid day pass or annual pass is required to enter the park. Free passes are available through the Mesa County Libraries as part of the “Check Out Colorado State Parks” backpacks.
