Participants will enjoy a story time, followed by educational activities, and arts & crafts. Explore questions including: Why do we have seasons? What happens as the seasons change? and How do these changes impact wildlife?

Caring for the first two miles off of the interstate, the Friends of Highline Lake ensures that visitors to the Loma area are greeted with a clean commute and view of the Grand Valley. Join us at Lake Pueblo State Park for Little Naturalists: Terrific Trees! This program is designed for preschool age children and their grown-ups. This week's Little Naturalists will focus on trees! How do they grow so tall? Who lives in them? What happens after they fall down? Join us for a story time followed by activities and an art project.

Are you ready to shred the trails? We are! Grab your bike and come mountain bike with us to explore the new trail section of the Highline Lake Trail. The group ride will start at Mack Mesa Lake near the restrooms. We will then make a loop around Mack Mesa Lake, exploring nearly 2.5 miles. On our ride, we'll explore the highest point in the park while riding the newest section of the Highline Lake Trail.&nbsp;

When was the last time you wished upon a shooting star? Join us as we talk about your chances to see meteor showers this year and what Highline Lake is doing to protect these stargazing opportunities. Meet in the Visitor Center.

Have you ever wondered how humans gained inspiration for our massive dams? Well, leave it to beavers. These fuzzy four-legged creatures are nature’s engineers. From lodges to river-stopping dams, they build it all. Come learn about beavers and their construction marvels. You, too, can try your hand at building a dam. Meet in the Visitor Center, all ages welcome. This program is free but a valid day pass or annual pass is required to enter the park. Free passes are available through the Mesa County Libraries as part of the “Check Out Colorado State Parks” backpacks.

One of the most beloved endurance events on the western slope. With a fast and fun singletrack lap located within the desert oasis of Highline Lake State Park, this a great race to kick off the summer season.&nbsp;

We are celebrating #KidsToParksDay, are you? Join us for a Junior Ranger hike and work toward earning your badge. We will meet at the Day Use Restroom building above the Lakeview Swim Beach. Don't forget water, hiking shoes, and weather appropriate clothing.
