CPW to host final public meeting on Master Plan for Fishers Peak State Park
TRINIDAD, Colo. – Colorado Parks and Wildlife invites the public to attend an open house the evening of Monday, April 11, to hear design concepts for the development of Fishers Peak State Park.
CPW expects this to be the final public meeting in the long process of developing a Master Plan for the state’s 42nd state park.
The 90-minute meeting is scheduled at 5:30 p.m., April 11, at the Trinidad State College, in the Pioneer Room of the Sullivan Student Center on Park Street.
The Fishers Peak State Park Project Team will make a 30-minute presentation of the design concepts and lay out its plan for the next phases in the development of the park and the next steps toward finalization of the Master Plan.
The remaining hour of the meeting will be an Open House format allowing the public to ask questions.
“We are excited to get to this step in the process and the final public meeting,” said Crystal Dreiling, CPW’s park manager for Fishers Peak. “At the previous public meeting in November, we talked about the possible locations for campgrounds, a Visitor Center and additional park entrances. And the responses we received that night from our 100 participants were overwhelmingly positive. There was a great energy in the room.
“At this meeting, we’ll have conceptual images of proposed park facilities and their locations. As with the last time, we’ll have maps of proposed trails and trail hubs. We’ll talk about plans for developed campgrounds as well as backcountry camping options and even equestrian trails and related camping concepts.”
After the formal presentation, the public will be able to talk informally with Fishers Peak State Park Project Team members about various aspects of the Master Plan.
