Colorado Parks and Wildlife Northeast Region to host deer unit management public meetings

DENVER, Colo. – Colorado Parks and Wildlife will host public meetings to discuss deer herd management plans for game units in Bailey, Boulder Creek, Castle Rock and Elbert County.

The meetings will gather crucial community input on the Northeast Region’s deer population objectives and draft herd management plan, which lasts for ten years. CPW will provide an in-person and virtual option for each unit meeting.

“This is the public’s opportunity to tell us how they think we should manage deer in these units,” said Lance Carpenter, CPW Northeast Region Senior Wildlife Biologist. “We value what people who live and hunt in the area say they would like to see from the deer herds.”

Meeting schedule:

  • D-17 Bailey herd: Monday, November 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the Platte Canyon Fire Protection District station at 153 Dellwood Dr, Bailey, CO 80421. Virtual meeting link here
  • D-27 Boulder Creek herd: Wednesday, December 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Hunter Education building at 6060 Broadway, Denver, CO 80216. Virtual meeting link here

Future unit meetings will be held in January on dates yet to be determined.

Public comments will be synthesized into the draft herd management plan and presented to the Parks and Wildlife Commission for approval.
