Rifle Falls State Park will temporarily close to the public Thursday for an Xcel Energy project.
RIFLE, Colo. – Rifle Falls State Park will be temporarily closed Thursday, Dec. 12 to allow Xcel Energy to replace electrical poles.

Xcel Energy has worked to replace power poles along State Highway 325 throughout the fall. On Thursday, some of the poles that are difficult to access located at Rifle Falls State Park will be removed by helicopter. Replacement poles will also be brought in via helicopter.

“For everyone’s safety and to allow Xcel to quickly and safely complete this project, Rifle Falls State Park will need to close during the operation,” said Park Manager Brian Palcer. “We appreciate the public’s understanding and apologize for this temporary inconvenience.”

The project is subject to change depending on weather. However, the current forecast looks favorable for the project being conducted Thursday. The park will reopen as soon as helicopter work is completed.

For information on when the park reopens, check the park’s page on the CPW website.
