Hunting at Fishers Peak
Colorado Parks and Wildlife offers a number of backcountry hunting opportunities at Fishers Peak State Park through a limited-license draw. The use of vehicles or ATVs/UTVs is not permitted when hunting.

HUNTING
Spring Turkey Licenses
Hunting at Fishers Peak State Park is permitted only with a Special Activity Permit. Colorado Parks and Wildlife held a random drawing for five turkey hunting opportunities on Fishers Peak State Park during the 2025 spring turkey season (April 12 - May 31). Winners of the drawing have been notified. They will be issued a Special Activity Permit authorizing access to Fishers Peak State Park for one of five 9-day windows. Hunters are required to purchase an over-the-counter spring turkey license.
What to Hunt at Fishers Peak

Turkey
Fifteen spring turkey hunting permits will be available through a limited-license draw annually. The application will be posted each year on this webpage on February 1.

Elk
A total of 29 elk hunting permits will be offered for the September season and regular rifle seasons through a limited-license draw annually. If the winners for the regular rifle season deer license also hold a valid bear license, they will be allowed to hunt bear on the property during their elk or deer season. The application for these permits will be posted each year on this webpage on July 1 for the September seasons, and on August 1 for the rifle seasons.

Deer
A total of 6 deer hunting permits will be offered for the September season and regular rifle seasons through a limited-license draw annually. If the winners for the regular rifle season deer license also hold a valid bear license, they will be allowed to hunt bear on the property during their elk or deer season. The application for these permits will be posted each year on this webpage on July 1 for the September seasons, and on August 1 for the rifle seasons.

Bear
A total of 5 bear hunting permits will be offered for the September season through a limited-license draw annually. The application for these permits will be posted on this webpage each year on July 1.

Mountain Lion
A total of 3 mountain lion hunting permits will be offered for the mountain lion season through a limited-license draw annually. The application for these permits will be posted on this webpage each year on August 1.

How to Apply for a Hunting Special Use Permit (HUP)
Applications become live on different dates depending upon the species. Please refer to the species information above.
- Only one application entry will be allowed per person, per season.
- All applicants must have successfully completed a hunter's education course at the time of the draw.
- Successful applicants for the draws will be issued a Hunting Special Use Permit (HUP) authorizing access to Fishers Peak State Park only during the season dates found on their license.
