About this Event

During the hike, our volunteer naturalist, Ranger Rick, will make stops during the hike to discuss our park’s history, share facts and hear stories about the moon, and learn how to identify stars with our eyes and apps. There are several free star map apps available for iPhone and Android such as Night Sky, Star Chart, and SkyView Lite. Choose your favorite! On the 1 mile hike, NASA Solar System Ambassador, Dave Warner, will point out astronomical features visible to the naked eye and tell star stories. The hikes are limited to 20 participants and are recommended for ages 7 and up; children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. NOTE: the 3 mile hike can be strenuous in certain parts and will also have areas where roots and rocks are present. Consider the 1 mile hike if you are unsure of your fitness level or may not be used to the Colorado Springs altitude.
