Wildlife Viewing Hike
It's the first day of autumn! Enjoy the season with an evening hike in search of wildlife at the park.
About this Event
Spend the first day of Autumn on a hike through the forest and meadows in search of wildlife who call the park home like mule deer, black bear, foxes, elk, great horned owls and more. You will also see the beautiful view from the highest point in the park. This is a popular time to see elk who are in rut.
Bring a headlamp or flashlight, binoculars and water. This is a 3 mile, moderate hike. You know yourself, family and friends best. As long as everyone can hike quietly they are welcome to join.
There are only so many spots to increase the likelihood of seeing animals so you must register online or by calling the Visitor Center at 719-687-2366.
Seeing wildlife is not guaranteed, but a fun hike is!
Meet at Grouse Mountain Trailhead.
