Nature Journaling with Apps Hike
A guided hike to learn how to use phone apps to identify plants and wildlife, journal your discoveries and contribute to global biodiversity science.
About this Event
Have you ever been out hiking and had questions about the plants and creatures you came across? Have you wanted to do nature journaling but didn’t want to carry notebooks and writing or drawing instruments? Do you want to help scientists globally to better understand biodiversity, distribution, and rarity of species?
Join volunteer naturalist Ranger Rick for a 2.0 mile hike to learn how to use phone apps to do all those things! You’ll learn how to use two apps: the Seek app by iNaturalist and Merlin Bird ID (available for iPhone and Android).
To assure a prompt start, please download both apps to your phone and set up your profiles prior to arriving at the trailhead.
Bring plenty of water, snacks, good hiking shoes/boots. If you wish to bring binoculars, that’s fine as well.
The hike is limited to 15 participants and are recommended for ages 7 and up; children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
Dogs are NOT permitted.
The hike is weather permitting and may be cancelled in the event of inclement weather or muddy trails.
