Foraging Walk
Open you eyes to the amazing repertoire of edible plants in Colorado.
About this Event
A guided walk along Horseshoe trail, learning to identify the various edible wild plants in this region. We will identify, but not gather.
Walk with Master Naturalist Jacob, and open your eyes to the amazing repertoire of foods growing right here in the Colorado mountains. This will be a short, 1.5 hr easy hike, with stops to look at various plants along the trail. As actually taking plants from the park is not legal, we will be focussing on learning to spot and identify the vaious plants growing here.
We will be meeting at the Horseshoe Trailhead (coordinates are 39.836067581495, -105.40524162194126), and hiking up along the Horseshoe trail for a ways. We may not go the full 1.8 mile length, depending on how we feel. This trail has a slight incline, with rocky stretches periodically. Also be aware that there is no cell signal anywhere along this hike, from the parking lot onward.
Please bring weather appropriate clothing (it will likely be hot, and may rain), a notebook if you like, and a curiosity for the natural world!
A park pass is required for this event. If you do not have one, please plan to purchase one prior to the event start.
