Colorado River Emergency Closure

Effective immediately, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) has issued an emergency closure for all public access and downstream recreation on the Colorado River starting at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park in Fruita and extending to the Utah state line.  This closure is necessary for firefighter and public safety due to the Snyder Fire currently burning in McInnis Canyon.  Learn more.

Guided Meadow Walk

The guided meadow walk is a chance to learn more about the pristine ecosystems in Cheyenne Mountain State Park. Starting every Sunday from the Prairie Falcon Amphitheater at 10:00 AM, the hike is a great chance to get outside and learn.

About this Event

The meadow nature walk is a relatively short guided nature walk through some of our park’s pristine natural environments. Learn about the ecology of meadows and open spaces. The walk takes place in Cheyenne Mountain State Park, starting at the Prairie Falcon Amphitheater parking at 10:00AM. Reservations are available on CPW connect, but walk-ins are allowed. No fee is needed for the walk, but the entry fee to the park is still required. Walk will commence rain or shine, so participants are advised to come prepared for weather and trail conditions. Appropriate footwear and clothing is needed, as the trail is not paved. 

Pets not permitted

Cost: Park entry fee required

Time duration: 1-2 hours
