WALDEN, Colo. - Colorado Parks and Wildlife is excited to announce Yonder Yurts, LLC as the new concessionaire for its yurt camping program. Yonder Yurts is located in Steamboat Springs, and owned by Corey and Sarah Peterson, avid outdoor enthusiasts.
"We are thrilled to collaborate with State Forest State Park in reintroducing the beloved yurt system this summer," said Corey Peterson, co-owner of Yonder Yurts. "We have long recognized the potential to enhance the previous yurts, so when the opportunity arose to become the new concessionaire, we were absolutely thrilled. These remote yurts hold a special place in the hearts of park visitors, and we're honored to play a role in bringing back this unique offering."
“We couldn’t be more excited,” said Tony Johnson, Acting State Forest State Park Manager. “From day one, it was our goal to ensure the yurt program remained as an option for visitors at State Forest State Park. We know this camping experience has been missed by many of our visitors and we are looking forward to working with Yonder Yurts to once again have this unique experience available to our guests for many years to come.”
Yonder Yurts is committed to elevating the guest experience and is planning on constructing seven new yurts to replace the existing structures. Construction is scheduled to begin as soon as weather conditions permit.
In addition to the yurts, Yonder will oversee the management of the Nokhu Hut and Agnes Creek Cabin. With the help of State Forest State Park volunteers the hut and cabin will go through much needed updates and renovations later this summer.
"We have a passion for the outdoors and our goal is to provide the most comfortable setting for our guests to have a peaceful and serene experience in this beautiful area," added Sarah Peterson, co-owner of Yonder Yurts. "We're dedicated to preserving the essence of State Forest State Park while enhancing the overall visitor experience."
For updates on the construction progress and opening of reservations please visit Yonder Yurts or CPW’s website.
