Mueller State Park to host annual firewood fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 12

DIVIDE, Colo. – For the sixth straight year, firewood generated by ongoing forest-thinning work at the park will be offered to the public in a fundraiser sponsored by Friends of Mueller State Park.

On Oct. 12, the Friends group will conduct the firewood event at the park, beginning 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., while supplies last.

The park is located three miles south of Divide on Colorado Highway 67. The firewood collection site will be approximately one mile north of the main park entrance on the west side of Highway 67, near the intersection of Cantiberry Road. Turn west at the gate for directions to the loading area.

The Friends group, which raises money for improvements to the park, will be offering mixed dry and green, un-split firewood rounds cut to approximately 12-24 inches. The group is seeking cash-only donations of $80 to $120, depending on the amount of wood requested. No trailers will be allowed; only pickup trucks are permitted.

"Please join us in supporting the Friends of Mueller State Park and stock up on firewood at bargain prices,” said Brian Kerrigan, park manager. “The Friends of Mueller State Park continue to be a valuable partner with the park and this firewood sale has become an important fundraiser for them.”
