About This Ranch

Terrain

The ranch lies on the west side of the Grand Hogback and rises gradually toward the south and east with Flag Creek being the major drainage. Most of the ranch consists of rolling hills of sagebrush and mountain shrub plant communities interspersed with scattered stands of aspen and coniferous forest at the higher elevations. Much of the ranch is deer and elk winter range or seasonal transition range.

Access

Most of the ranch will be accessible only by foot to hunters, because there are only a certain number of established access roads and two-track trails across the ranch. However, guides from the ranch will transport hunters to different areas of the property during your hunt to maximize your chances of success and minimize the amount of walking necessary. Please be physically prepared for your hunt as the terrain on the ranch can be steep and rugged.

Ranching for Wildlife (RFW)

This property is part of the Ranching for Wildlife program. The Ranching for Wildlife program provides Colorado residents a unique opportunity to hunt on private ranch land normally closed to the public. Participating ranches provide public hunting recreation access to their land free of charge to those who draw licenses.

Through this program, hunters can play an important role in helping CPW and landowners manage wildlife populations on private land. In addition to providing public hunting access to successful applicants, participating landowners are required to improve habitat on their ranch for both game and non-game animals. These efforts help preserve and enhance open spaces for wildlife to live and thrive and keep the hunting heritage alive for you and future generations.
