Terrain
The vegetation varies from river bottom willow and hay meadow complexes, rolling sagebrush hills, with some aspen and mixed conifer forest. The east side ranches run along the western edge of the Medicine Bow Mountains from about Gould, Colo. to about Cowdrey, Colo. These ranch units are drained by the Michigan and Canadian Rivers. The west side ranches are near the Routt National Forest boundaries north of Jackson County Road 20 at the Lone Pine unit and roughly south of Jackson County Road 6W at the Hill unit. The Hill unit is drained by Lake Creek from north to south, and the Lone Pine unit is drained by Lone Pine Creek west to east. The Bighorn and Diamond J units are drained from south to north by the North Platte River and the Michigan River, respectively.
Access
Access on all ranch units is by 4-wheel drive on existing ranch roads. Motorcycles, ATVs and snowmobiles will not be allowed on the property. Horses are not allowed.

Ranching for Wildlife (RFW)
This property is part of the Ranching for Wildlife program. The Ranching for Wildlife program provides Colorado residents a unique opportunity to hunt on private ranch land normally closed to the public. Participating ranches provide public hunting recreation access to their land free of charge to those who draw licenses.
Through this program, hunters can play an important role in helping CPW and landowners manage wildlife populations on private land. In addition to providing public hunting access to successful applicants, participating landowners are required to improve habitat on their ranch for both game and non-game animals. These efforts help preserve and enhance open spaces for wildlife to live and thrive and keep the hunting heritage alive for you and future generations.
