About This Ranch

Three Springs Ranch is located from the west approximately 30 miles east of Dinosaur on Hwy 40, then approximately 14 miles northwest on County Road 16. From the east, County Road 16 is located approximately 30 miles west of Maybell on Hwy 40.

This ranch is located in Game Management Unit 10. This unit is managed as a quality unit for elk and deer by Colorado Parks and Wildlife. The conservative management of this unit enhances the opportunity to harvest older age class bulls and bucks on this ranch. Consequently, it may require a high number of preference points to draw.

Terrain

The ranch is located in the Wolf Creek valley. This drainage flows east and the valley slopes relatively gently to low rides. The primary vegetation is sage flats and pinyon juniper with some mountain browse. Due to lack of cover, skill at stalking is required. This ranch is located in a remote part of the state that has few services.

Access

Walk-in only. Hunters must park on the county road or along specified fence lines and then walk in. ATVs and vehicles may be used past walk-in points to retrieve game. All vehicles must stay on established roads.

Ranching for Wildlife (RFW)

This property is part of the Ranching for Wildlife program. The Ranching for Wildlife program provides Colorado residents a unique opportunity to hunt on private ranch land normally closed to the public. Participating ranches provide public hunting recreation access to their land free of charge to those who draw licenses.

Through this program, hunters can play an important role in helping CPW and landowners manage wildlife populations on private land. In addition to providing public hunting access to successful applicants, participating landowners are required to improve habitat on their ranch for both game and non-game animals. These efforts help preserve and enhance open spaces for wildlife to live and thrive and keep the hunting heritage alive for you and future generations.
