About the Colorado River Wildlife Area and Pear Park Section

The numerous small lakes in the Pear Park Trail section provide critical habitat for endangered fish. Opportunities for hiking and recreation facilities have been kept to a minimum.

The separate, Colorado River Wildlife Area was constructed to replace wetlands lost during the Grand Valley Salinity Control period starting in 1979. Recreation facilities have been kept to a minimum here, but hiking, wildlife observation, and limited fishing access are available.

observer may see mule deer, skunk, cottontail rabbits, and beaver, all of which are common to the area.

    Trails

The Pear Park hiking trail is unpaved and connects 29 Road to 30 Road with a view of the Lakes. There is a wonderful 4 mile long paved hiking trail that starts at Corn Lake and heads west through the Wildlife Area and beyond to 29 Road.
