About the Connected Lakes Section
Connected Lakes provides a network of trails that traverse a series of ponds and ADA fishing piers. Visitors find a wide variety of recreational opportunities, including fishing, picnicking, hiking, paddle sports, and bird watching. Connected Lakes has restrooms for visitors.
DIRECTIONS
Accessing the Connected Lakes Section
Located in the Southwest portion of Grand Junction on Dike Road.
Park Section Hours: 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., daily.
Take Broadway/Hwy 340 to Power Road and travel Northwest. Continue on Dike Road to the park.
There are four accessible fishing piers within the Connected Lake section of James M. Robb.
- The first is located on the Northwest side of Duke Lake.
- The second is located on the East side of the Connected Lakes near the restrooms and the Kingfisher parking lot off of Dike Road.
- The third and fourth are located on the inside of the two Connected Lake sections; one on each shore. Both are close to Osprey Point and the Beavertail parking lot at the end of Dike Road within the park.
The Connected Lakes boat ramp to access the Colorado River is located North of Duke Road on the bank of the Colorado River between Duke Lake and Kingfisher parking lots.

Boating
Hand-propelled, sail and electric-powered boats can be hand launched on the lakes at Connected Lakes. A boat ramp to the Colorado River is available for river access.
Trails
Connected Lakes has nearly four miles of trails, some paved and some hard packed. A connecting trail runs between the lakes along the Redlands Canal and the Colorado River.
Picnicking
Seven picnic areas with shelter are available on a first come first served basis around the Connected Lakes.
River Access
Rafters, kayakers, canoeists, and tubers can launch a fast-moving river trip at park ramps located at Connected Lakes. River trips from Connected Lakes to Fruita are about 10 miles. Float times vary with changing conditions but average 3-4 hours. This section of the Colorado River is considered whitewater with sections of Class II rapids.
Know Before You Go
Be sure to have an appropriate size and type of life jacket for each individual while on the river or the lakes within the park.
Loaner lifejackets are provided at the boat ramp by the Save-A-Life program. Please return life jackets at any of the life jacket stations throughout the Grand Valley.
Keep all pets under control and on a leash no more than six feet long.
Visit the Fruita or Island Acres section for overnight camping.
