About the Island Acres Section

Island Acres has diverse stands of Rio Grande cottonwoods including several large, mature trees on the west side of the park.  These provide shade for visitors cooling off from the summer heat.  These also provide nesting opportunities for bald eagles that frequent the area and take advantage of the year-round fishery.  The park's convenient location also provides easy access to Palisade for visitors interested in agritourism through the peach orchards and vineyards.
