Each year, hundreds of Coloradans experience hunting and shooting sports for the first time through educational seminars, skills clinics and unique hunting opportunities made possible by volunteers. ​Colorado Parks and Wildlife's hunting programs are able to grow because of the dedicated efforts of our program volunteers.

2 Ways to Become a Mentor

Hunt Supports are volunteer mentors who are essential to Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s mission of promoting and teaching safe, ethical and responsible hunting to those who have never hunted or have limited hunting experience. Please submit an application to become a mentor. Prospective mentors must be able to pass a background check.

Become a Hunt Support

Hunt Supports are screened, qualified mentors who assist with planning and conducting clinics, seminars and hunts. They support Hunt Leads during events as photographers, shooting instructors, cooks, registration officials and more. If they are interested, select volunteers may receive additional training to become certified Hunt Leads.

Interested hunters can be a hunt mentor for a sponsoring organization Colorado Parks and WIldlife supports with outreach licenses.

Mentor Training

Classes for mentors typically occur once a year and include eight hours of training.  When applicants submit their application it will be placed on file for future training. ​​
