Run and Restore
Love trail running? Want to give back to the places you run? Join us for a different kind of trail experience blending miles with meaning!
About this Event
Join us for a different kind of trail running experience! Enjoy the park, and give back by pulling invasive weeds.
We'll meet at the parking lot at Blue Grouse Trailhead and go up to the west side of Mule Deer for a roundtrip 4 miles with 620 feet of elevation gain (Map: https://trails.colorado.gov/routes/169789). Halfway, we'll stop for our 20-minute session of pulling and bagging Canada Thistle that threatens the local ecosystem. After, we'll run back the way we came to Blue Grouse Trailhead again, knowing we’ve done a little good with our time on the trail.
All skill levels are welcome and we will stop at all trail junctions. Please make sure to register for this run as we'll do our best to wait for everyone signed up before we get out on trail!
What's provided:
- Work gloves
- Brief overview of noxious weeds/native plants
What you should bring:
- Sturdy running shoes
- Your typical trail running gear (vest, layer, etc.)
- Hydration!
This event is weather permitting. In the scenario that weather impacts the run, we will email if the event cannot take place.
Additionally, please make sure you've purchased your park pass (day pass is $12) before the program. There is an electronic pay station at the campground as well as the campground office. If you have a Keep Colorado Wild (KCW) Pass labeled on your car registration, this serves as your day pass. Park Rangers can check your license plate to see your KCW Pass, so no need to put your registration on your dashboard.
