Most properties are open seasonally for hunting and fishing ONLY, unless specifically authorized for wildlife viewing. STLs are typically open from Sept. 1 through the end of February, unless noted otherwise and are closed to public access all other times of the year. A valid hunting or fishing license​ is required to access State Trust Lands in this program, and unauthorized use or activity on these lands may be subject to enforcement from CPW or local authorities.
From Hwy. 50 in Rocky Ford, take Hwy. 71 S for 5 miles to Hwy. 10. Take Hwy. 10 for 0.5 miles W to Hwy. 71 S, then take Hwy. 71 approx. 9 miles S to Hwy. 350. Take Hwy. 350 approx. 2.5 miles SW to CR N. Take CR N approx. 5 miles W to CR 12, then take CR 12 approx. 3 miles S to CR K. Take CR K 1.5miles W to USFS Rd. 2107 and then take USFS Rd. 2107 approx. 0.5 miles W to intersection of USFS Rd. 2107 and USFS Rd. 2104.A. USFS Rd. 2107 goes 1 mile along S boundary of property. USFS Rd. 2104.A goes N for 1 mile along E boundary of property.

Milk Creek

SW ACCESS: From Kremmling, take Hwy. 40 W for 6 miles to Hwy. 134, then go 4 miles to Red Dirt Rd. (USFS Rd. 100). Go N for 15 miles to Buffalo Park, then go E on USFS Rd. 131 to sign and gate.
NE ACCESS: From Kremmling, take Hwy. 40 for 20 miles W to CR 184. Go 2 miles W (dry weather only) through white pipe gate and along vehicle track to parking area just before Muddy Creek. In wet weather, stay on CR 184 to mile marker 161 and enter property from ridge or end of road.
TWO BAR ACCESS: Take Hwy. 40 W of Kremmling for 18 miles to signed parking area at mile marker 163. Timber activity may be present.

Sterling Prairie

From Sterling, take Hwy. 6 E. There are several parking areas along Hwy. 6, the first approx. 6 miles E of interstate, and the second approx. 9 miles E of interstate.
WEST SIDE PARKING: Go SE on Hwy. 61 approx. 3.5 miles to parking area. Or take Hwy. 61 S to Logan CR 24.8 and turn right. Veer left onto Logan CR 47. Go approx. 3 miles to parking area on W side of road.
EAST SIDE PARKING: Take Hwy. 6 approx. 12 miles E of interstate. Turn S onto Logan CR 67 and travel approx. 2.5 miles. Turn W onto Logan CR 30 and travel approx. 1 mile to parking area.

Take CR N approx. 0.5 miles W to CR 16.5. Take CR 16.5 N to USFS Rd. 2124.B, then take USFS Rd. 2124.B approx. five 5 miles W to USFS Rd. 2124. Take USFS Rd. 2124 approx. 1 mile N to property. USFS Rd. 2124 goes N through property, meets USFS Rd. 2120 near N boundary. Take USFS Rd. 2120 S through property, or N then E to CR 17.
