Jack Canyon

The State Trust Lands (STL) Hunting and Fishing Access Program includes more than 900,000 acres of land leased to Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) for seasonal public hunting and fishing opportunities. Most properties are open seasonally for hunting and fishing ONLY, unless specifically authorized for wildlife viewing. STLs are typically open from Sept. 1 through the end of February, unless noted otherwise and are closed to public access all other times of the year. A valid hunting or fishing license​ is required to access State Trust Lands in this program, and unauthorized use or activity on these lands may be subject to enforcement from CPW or local authorities.

IMPORTANT: This property may have military munitions present, as it was once used for military live-fire training/testing. Please follow the three Rs of explosives safety while on the property:
Recognize that munitions are dangerous;
Retreat: Do not approach, touch or disturb it, and carefully leave the area;
Report: Notify local law enforcement to advise of what you saw and where you saw it.

NORTH ENTRANCE: From Hwy. 50 in La Junta, take Hwy. 109 S for 14 miles to USFS Rd. 2200 (sign for Vogel and Picketwire canyons). Take USFS Rd. 2200 approx. 4 miles W to USFS Rd. 2200.J. Take USFS Rd. 2200.J S for 0.25 miles to N boundary. USFS Rd. 2200.J provides access to 1.25 miles of boundary.
SOUTH ENTRANCE: Take Hwy. 109 S from Hwy. 50 for approx. 18.5 miles to CR 804. Take CR 804 W approx. 4 miles to ranch road going W (CR 804 turns S). Take ranch road approx. 0.25 miles W to gate and parking lot.

From stoplight in Buena Vista, go W on CR 306, then:
ACCESS #1: Go W on CR 306 to CR 339. Go S on CR 339 approx. 2.9 miles to parking area on E side of CR 339.
ACCESS #2: From CR 306, go S on CR 321 approx. 1.75 miles to CR 328. Parking area on SW corner of CRs 321 and 328 intersection.
ACCESS #3: From CR 306, go S on CR 321 approx. 4.75 miles to CR 327. Go W on CR 327 for 1 mile to parking area on N side of CR 327.
ACCESS #4: From CR 306, go S on CR 321 approx. 4.5 miles to CR 324 and parking area on E side of CR 321.
ACCESS #5: From CR 306, go S on CR 321 approx. 5 miles to parking area on E side of CR 321, where CR 321 crosses Dry Creek.
ACCESS #6: From CR 306, go S on CR 321 approx. 5.25 miles to CR 323. Go W on CR 323 to parking area at W end of STL, on N side of CR 323.
