What to Do at Lory
Lory State Park features over 28 miles of trails that lead through forest, meadows and rock outcroppings, offering visitors rugged terrain for trail running, mountain biking, hiking, rock climbing, bouldering and horseback riding. The cross-country equestrian course is open year-round.

Best of Lory
Hiking, Biking and Horseback Riding
Lory's main attraction is its endless opportunities for hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking. The park offers visitors 28 miles of trails, a mountain bike park and an equestrian cross-country course.
Fishing
Lory provides access to Horsetooth Reservoir's Quarry, Orchard, North and South Eltuck, Soldier and Satanka Coves for fishing. A Colorado Parks and Wildlife pass and Colorado fishing license are required.
Boating
Horsetooth Reservoir borders Lory to the east. Canoeists, kayakers and rafters can hand-launch their crafts within a short walk from the North Eltuck Bay parking lot. The boat ramp nearest to Lory is located at Satanka Cove on Horsetooth Dam.
Rock Climbing
There are many existing climbs on the granitic rocks in the Arthur’s Rock vicinity and on Arthur’s Rock itself. Fixed hardware cannot be installed without a special activity permit. Contact park management at 970-493-1623.

Lory State Park closes trails due to muddy conditions on a regular basis to prevent unnecessary erosion, widening/braiding, and hazardous conditions. COTREX is where you can find the most up-to-date information regarding trail closures and park conditions. Practice Leave No Trace and respect any trail closures to keep Lory’s trails sustainable.

Big Game
Hunting
Lory State Park allows hunting on weekdays from the Tuesday after Labor Day until the Tuesday before Memorial Day. A day pass or an annual pass is required.
Lory is located in Unit 19. Please refer to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Big Game Regulation brochure for specific seasons. Hunters are required to register at the Visitor Center before hunting. All harvests must be reported.
Hunting is prohibited at Horsetooth Mountain Open Space, adjacent to Lory State Park to the south. Hunting is prohibited east of the West Valley Trail, North of the Timber Trail, and within 100 yards of the Well Gulch Nature Trail. Please be aware of boundary lines and refer to the Lory State Park Hunting Map. Both big-game and small-game hunters are required to wear blaze orange or pink. Target shooting is prohibited at all times.
