Colorado is a mandatory boat inspection state. All trailered and/or motorized watercraft are required to be professionally inspected by state certified personnel before entering the water. State-certified boat inspections help prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species in Colorado.

Navajo State Park - Activities & Trails

Arboles, CO

Navajo State Park offers premium recreation, history, wildlife and the beauty of southwest Colorado. It is situated just outside of the town of Arboles, 35 miles southwest of Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Navajo State Park is Colorado's Answer to Lake Powell. Navajo Reservoir Extends for 20 miles South into New Mexico. Boaters and campers enjoy the park year-round. Sailors, house boaters and other power boaters cruise some of the 15,000 surface-acres of the giant reservoir.

Frantz Lake

Frantz Lake State Wildlife Area is a top quality fishery in the heart of Salida, CO. Frantz Lake provides an excellent fishing experience for the whole family and also has an ADA access fishing pier. No motorized boating is allowed at the SWA however hand-launched fishing craft such as canoes and kayaks are popular. Frantz Lake boasts excellent rainbow trout fishing year round and is a popular for ice fishing. Anglers at Frantz will also have quality fishing opportunities for smallmouth bass.

Secondary Draw

Hunters who didn't draw a license in the primary draw still have the opportunity to draw a license in the secondary draw. Most elk, deer, pronghorn and bear licenses not issued through the primary draw are available in a secondary draw. The secondary draw is open to anyone, whether they applied for the primary draw or not. Youth ages 12 to 17 receive priority for all licenses.

The Lake Fork of the Gunnison provides anglers quality trout fishing opportunities for rainbow and brown trout on several reaches of Bureau of Land Management and National Park Service lands. These reaches are available for bank and wade fishing only.
