When you camp at Mancos State Park, check-in time is 1 p.m. on the day of arrival and check-out time is 12 p.m. (noon) on the day of departure. A reservation is necessary, and camping is allowed only in designated areas. A minimum reservation of two nights is required for yurts. The maximum stay is 14 days within a 28-day period. A maximum of six people, two motorized vehicles and only one camping unit is allowed per individual site.

Group campgrounds can accommodate up to 75 campers, depending on the campground. Parking on vegetation may result in a fine. Please do not tie anything, including hammocks, to the trees.

All pets must be under control and on a maximum six-foot leash at all times, and not attached to any park signs, trees, shrubs or hydrants. Pets may not be left unattended, and pet owners must promptly clean up after their pets. Pets are permitted in yurts with a $10 pet fee.

Winter is a great time to enjoy activities in the park such as ice fishing, cross-country skiing, sledding and snowshoeing. Mancos is centrally located to make a good base for daily outings to Mesa Verde, Durango and the nearby San Juan National Forest. During the winter months, the west campground is closed, but several campsites in the upper loop of the main campground remain open.

Yurts must be reserved year-round at Mancos, but campsites do not require a reservation during winter (although it is a good idea to check availability at cpwshop.com).
